Greg Winsted, LMFT Therapist
Greg is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. Currently, he sees adult individuals and couples. He focuses on facilitating a safe and helpful environment in which to discuss client concerns. He believes in assessing and selecting key areas to focus on, discovering underlying emotional conflicts and thought processes that maintain symptomatic or problematic behaviors, opening up awareness and insight, experiencing more positive emotions and developing beliefs that are more adaptive and healthy, and working toward behavior change in practical and goal-directed ways.
Greg believes the relationship between client and therapist is very important. He strives to build a collaborative relationship that has among other qualities safety, trust, respect, and honesty that deepens over time. He works alongside clients doing therapy with them and at the same time knows that he possesses knowledge and expertise the client is looking for from a therapist.
He gives individuals and couples the opportunity to explore family of origin dynamics, knowing that everyone’s past has affected many areas of their development. Often times, people have not reflected upon their earlier experiences. He believes when people take the time to understand themselves in the context of their histories, they can make sense of who they have become. However, he also understands that some people want to focus more on the present and look directly toward the future. Working therapeutically in these ways helps people connect again to their own innate capacities for self-directed growth.
He integrates a variety of clinical approaches listed below as well as others in collaboration with the identified needs of each client.
