Insurance & Fees
At New Leaf Behavioral Health, we believe that high-quality mental health care should be accessible, transparent, and manageable. We are proud to be an in-network provider with many major commercial insurance plans, allowing you to utilize your behavioral health benefits for both in-person sessions in Raleigh and secure teletherapy across North Carolina.
Accepted Commercial Insurance Plans
Navigating insurance benefits can be confusing. Our administrative team is here to help verify your coverage before your first appointment. We currently accept the following commercial insurance plans for outpatient mental health counseling:
- Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of North Carolina
- Aetna
- State Health Plan (SHP) for State Employees
- UnitedHealthcare (Optum)/UMR
- MedCost
- …and many other major carriers.
Please note: Coverage varies by individual plan. We recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card to confirm your specific “outpatient mental health” benefits and copay requirements. We are not accepting new EAP authorizations at this time.
Using Out-of-Network Benefits
If we are not in-network with your specific insurance provider, you may still be able to use your benefits. We can provide you with a monthly “Superbill” (a medical receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
Does Insurance Cover Teletherapy?
Yes. Most commercial insurance plans now cover teletherapy (video counseling) exactly the same way they cover in-person office visits. You can receive expert treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and more from the comfort of your home using your standard insurance benefits.
Payment Options:
We gladly accept:
- Major Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex)
- Health Savings Accounts (HSA) cards
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) cards
The “No Surprises” Act & Good Faith Estimates
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.
Reduced Fee Program
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, New Leaf Behavioral Health is dedicated to serving the entire community. For individuals without insurance or with limited financial means, we offer a sliding scale Reduced Fee Program based on household income. Please contact our office to inquire about application requirements and availability.
